Lambs, Liambs, and Juliambs

We read in the paper that a nice farmer in town was opening his lamb farm in the evenings for free tours to the public (code for a perfect family night activity to tie in lambs, the shepherd, and its symbolism).

The farmer/shepherd does his free tour for three weeks starting in March while the ewes are lambing. It was interesting. He showed us how he uses his crook by snatching a goat by its neck when it walked by.

He is concerned for, and carefully oversees, each lamb because they are worth so much to him. He gets a profit of only $800 for 2000 lbs of wool, so the value is definitely in the lambs themselves.

When all the ewes came running out for food they all looked the same, but a lamb can recognize its mother's bleat and face from all others in the crowd.

This little lamb didn't know he was getting help from his mom. Had he known, this picture would have been a completely different scene.

Oh, I love little lambies! So, did you teach about the Savior being the Good Shepherd, and did the boys seem to understand?
The boys look like they really enjoyed it.
Love,
Gammy

Yes, exactly. I think they got the picture. I hope they will understand better as they think back to that experience.

Wayta capture that perfectly fantastic opportunity! And how fun for them to get to be close to little lambs, even without any symbolism! I love little kids getting to see real life - real animals, real food, real nature - up close and personal. You're a fantastic mom. :)

I love the beaming little faces in the pictures. Julian especially seems more grown up. We love you!

I wanna squeeze Julian up. When we do things like this, Dylan is so uptight about getting his hands dirty and doesn't want to touch anything. Then he makes sure everyone's hands get a good scrubbing before we leave and when we get home. Is Tanner the same way?

Ha! The boys got a good hand washing as soon as we got home. The same thing goes on before we get in the car after church is done- the boys have to wash their hands :)
