Summertime!

Aahh...summer. After a grueling 2nd year of graduate school, the last day of final's week is definately the best day of the year.

Summer officially began this year when I woke up at 4 am and came upon Tanner, sound asleep, sitting on the couch with the t.v. on and a piece of floss stuck between his teeth. I laughed for quite awhile.

Thegraduate school here is awesome! They always throw the best end of year bash for everyone. This year Tanner played in their golf tournament. It was fun to trek Liam along and mingle with the professors. The dean even drove around on a golf cart giving out munchies and cold drinks. Tanner was in total-fun-mode.

That night Wal-Mart threw all the students an end of the year barbeque/fun night. They really went all out.. there was live music, a clown, crafts for the kids, a bouncy balloon castle, and....

face painting!!! Liam decided he'd do his own face painting with some cake icing, even though they had a real face painter there.
We really had a great time and felt very grateful for the much deserved "thank-you" from the school for another year of hard work done.

Carrie's Trippin'

Liam and I were trippin' big-time as we drove 13 hours alone to Women's Conference, a graduation and Tanner's family.
Women's Conference is just what you'd think; a bajillion loud, crazy, and lost women frantically rushing to a bunch of classes on a huge BYU campus. I was excited to go and see all my family who came to listen to my Aunt Betty who was asked to speak. One thing she said about service that I liked was, "Even the smallest act is greater than the best intention."

After 900 miles, two fevers, being away from my honey, and a blizzard I had the opportunity to drive through myself (there were snow plows involved!) the trip seemed worth it to see Kat's face as I suprised her by showing up to Sam's graduation.

While I was gone Tanner decided to catch up on some "studying" (click on the picture for a bigger shot). Actually, this is picture of a trip we took in Grace not too long ago. This summer we have 2 trips planned to Californina. If they turn out like this past one, tough times ahead!

Happy Birthday, Liam!

Since Liam is our first kid and it was his first birthday we let him throw quite the party with quite the guests. Liam loves to play with Elliot and Riley and was so excited to see them come.

We decided to jumpstart the mess with this truck full of "dirt" (chocolate cake, chocolate icing, Oreo cookies, and chocolate pudding). It was my- I mean Liam's favorite part of the party.

Liam was so excited that he kept shouting and stuffing his face with chocolate goodness.

The chocolate cake was a good idea. It's important to see the huge mess Liam can create. It was fun singing the birthday song and watching him look around at all of us. We had a great time. Happy Birthday, Buddy!!

A Mission Fulfilled

When I found out I was pregnant with Liam I thought what any parent first thinks of: "Now I get to cash in on the free candy this Halloween and Easter!" The latest event… Easter egg hunting with an almost 1 year old Liam. So what my kid can’t walk- I can! I can also pick up eggs lying on the ground and steal jellybeans from 2 year olds. That qualifies me to hunt right?!
My friend Myla came. She has a 5 month old, but hey, it’s free candy for crying out loud!!!

Here I took a mad dash for some Easter eggs while Liam hung on for dear life. Liam picked up one egg (only because I put it in his hand). We came home with 16.

Hunk Of Burning Love

Death doesn’t scare me (unless it’s me whose dying). But that’s why I perform these stunts: to show Fate that I’m the one in control, not some silly cookie at the New Hong Kong restaurant.

Anyway, I did it for Liam. I figure when he’s older, and he sees me wearing a smock to work everyday he may think I’m kind of boring, maybe even a nerd, even though I’ll basically be a legit, licensed drug dealer, and most kids think drug dealers are cool. My boy will be able to look at this picture and realize that his old man is quite extreme at heart.

Feel free to copy this photo and blow it up and tape it on your bedroom wall to motivate you to become more like me.
